Q What is BOTOX?
A BoTox is the brand name of botulinum toxin type A, a purified and diluted substance produced by the bacteria that causes botulism.  BoTox was approved by the FDA in 1989, and it is most commonly used to reduce wrinkles in an individual's face.  When injected into the skin, BoTox halts the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles, eliminating the appearance of facial lines.  This procedure usually lasts from four to six months.
